|
This version of The Sound of Music has been specially adapted to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Pooi To Middle School. Set in war-torn Austria during World War 2, it is a tale of Love, Integrity, Purity and Perseverance in the face of great challenges. The Germans have invaded Austria and are trying to force them to join them in imposing totalitarianism on the rest of Europe.
Maria, the central character, has entered a convent in search of her true calling in life.
Unable to adapt to a silent, enclosed life because of her bubbly personality and love of music she is sent to the house of a very strict Austrian navy captain in the local village. The captain has recently lost his wife in the war and is in mourning for her. He cannot bear the sound of music in his house as it reminds him of his dear departed wife who was a famous opera singer. He has banned his children, Lisel, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta and Gretl from singing or playing any music and is very strict with them as he tries to deal with the terrible pain he feels. His one contact with his wife's former musical life is Max, a music agent who travels the world in search of choirs to perform at the famous local music festival. Maria brings light and music back into this dark place as she searches for ways to serve God and find her true destiny in life. Join us on this one hour journey of discovery, fun and music…most of all …music ..The Sound of Music. |
背景是第二次世界大戰在德軍威脅下的奧地利。在艱難的年代發生了一個具備「愛誠貞毅」元素的故事。
活潑好動且酷愛音樂的瑪莉亞(Maria)，進入修院實習，一心追尋上帝的呼召。但她率直的性格令院長大為躊躇，遂安排她往一個上校的家庭擔當教師。上校有七個子女，全在他軍訓式的教育下生活，並禁止一切音樂，以免令他憶起愛好歌唱的亡妻。
瑪莉亞將愛和音樂重新帶進這個家庭，最終感動了上校。此際，德軍強迫上校入伍，愛國的上校未肯屈服，計劃趁參加音樂節比賽期間逃離奧地利往瑞士去……
經歷種種，瑪莉亞終於找到她的人生方向，就是將愛和音樂帶給她所遇到的每一個人和所到之處。
音樂劇以「仙樂飄飄處處聞」為藍本，謹以此音樂劇為125周年校慶獻禮，願與來賓分享個中的溫情、樂趣和美妙的音樂。 |
