11 May 2017

Dear Parents and Students,

Arts in Action was successfully held on 5th May 2017. Over 2000 guests and participants including students and teachers were involved in the show.  The school supervisor, IMC managers, parents, alumni, friends of Pooi To and other guests highly commended our students and our school hall was filled with rounds of praise and applause. Thanks to all our staff, the students and the production team for their great effort putting on such a wonderful performance. This year, a Qipao fashion show, held before the evening’s music and drama programme, enriched the atmosphere of the night. I deeply admired our students’ talents for various performances, but more importantly, their attitude towards the performance, showing their love, caring, patience, perseverance, determination and collaboration. Let’s uphold our great traditions and step boldly into our 130th Anniversary. Without God’s grace and blessings, the show could not have been so successful. Praise be to our God.

Since the introduction of bilingual education in 2010, some subjects have been taught in English. Our teachers carefully prepare lessons so that students can more easily grasp the knowledge in English. This learning environment is now established and has built student confidence in speaking and the musical. Of course, students’ learning in those subjects which are taught in Chinese is still kept at a high level. This is our promise for providing bilingual education.

No matter how busy I am, I always take time to visit the classroom every day. I can see lots of teacher-student and student-student interaction in their classroom learning so that the classroom is a critical thinking classroom. This is something we proud of. Of course, while students may enjoy the learning experience in the classroom, they also have a responsibility to study hard and consolidate their study at home. Examinations are approaching. This is a chance to show the results of their learning, especially you S.3 students for whom this exam will be counted in your choice of subjects for S.4. Work hard!

Best wishes,
Constance Cheung
Principal
