Dear Parents and Students,

The outbreak of the coronavirus is heating up, with more and more confirmed cases worldwide. In February, we learnt from the case of the temple in North Point, the church in South Korea, and the case of the cruise ship "Diamond Princess" in Japan that the new type of coronavirus has a strong human-to-human transmission and it is difficult to find the source of the virus.

A man who was isolated from the "Princess Diamond" when he returned to Hong Kong said in an interview: "I thought it would be safe as long as I did not leave the room on the ship. However, when I found out that a passenger who had not left the room was still diagnosed with the infection, I felt that no matter how careful I was, I was still vulnerable.” I can feel how helpless and miserable he must have felt on that ship.

Indeed, the sudden outbreak of the new coronavirus in January has disrupted the whole world. May God help us not to be trapped in confusion and anxiety, and to give us peace in our hearts, because we know that God’s will is far away from what we can understand. More than we can imagine, we are convinced that God can use these experiences to accomplish greater things. Although we do not know how long it will last, we need God's presence and grace even more, because He is our hope.

Between February 22 and 26, class teachers contacted parents to discuss students’ learning performance over the last semester, and to get feedback and information on students' health and learning attitude over the class suspension period. Due to the continued spread of the epidemic, the Education Bureau announced that the resumption of classes would be further extended to April 20 at the earliest, while the school’s Easter break has been shortened from April 10 to 13. The revised school calendar is attached. From March, we will launch the second phase of the “Support Student Learning at Home" measure. We are going to use online real-time teaching and homework tutorials, and teachers can also meet their class online to share information and to better understand the needs of their students. The implementation of this measure is as follows:

Senior Forms

Junior Forms

Trial

March 2 to 13

March 16 to 28

Implementation

March 16 onwards

April 2 onwards

In order to assist students with studying online at home, S4 and S5 students can borrow iPads from school from February 24 – 28. In addition, junior form students can apply online to borrow iPads from March 2-6, and can borrow an iPad to support online real-time teaching from March 16.

Over this period of the coronavirus outbreak, teachers, students, and parents are having to constantly adapt to changes in everyday life, learning methods and work patterns. We thank Pooi To for having such passionate teachers who are not afraid to challenge and overcome difficulties when providing an education for their students. As the Bible says, ‘We know that everything works together. Those who love God benefit.’ (Romans 8:28).

May God bless.

Best regards,
