Dear Parents and Students,

With the collective effort made by both our teachers and students, we achieved remarkable HKDSE results this year. 82.1% of our students met the basic entrance requirements for admission to publicly funded undergraduate programmes (3322+2), surpassing the overall percentage in Hong Kong (36.5%). Besides, among the 15 subjects we provided to students, 15, 12 and 11 subjects reached level 2 or above, level 3 or above and level 4 or above respectively. In addition, all the students achieved at least a "2222+22". We are proud of the Soaring House graduates.

Our graduates also reported good news in Jupas 2023. 79.8% of the students were assigned to formally admitted degree programmes, which was much higher than the average performance of Hong Kong candidates (40.4%). In addition, 48.8% of our graduates have had their degree programmes funded by the UGC, and 16.7% of graduates were assigned to the three major universities (HKU, CUHK & HKUST), while one student was admitted to Peking University. Congratulations to all of them!

During the summer vacation, the Chinese History Department led more than 10 students to participate in the "Motion Rocket-Space Dream Tour". This is the first Hong Kong group to go to the Xichang Satellite Launch Center to observe a live satellite rocket launch. Teachers and students were able experience firsthand the amazing development of science and technology in mainland China. When giving insight on the touching and exciting moment of the rocket taking off, they described the aviation development of our country as being tens of thousands of miles further ahead than what we had understood. They were very proud of being Chinese. Through this journey, many students have become interested in aerospace science and technology, and it is hoped that students can develop the corresponding knowledge and abilities and integrate them into the overall development of our country in the future.

While connecting with outer space is important for the future, connecting with the rest of our own planet is key for Hong Kong in order to play its role as an international metropolis. We are backed by our country and is integrated into the overall development of China, and we also need to link up with the world, explore opportunities and enhance our international competitiveness in order to open up a better future for Hong Kong. Therefore, this year's school theme is "Bridging cultures, building futures", so that students can have a vision and learning experience that integrates both the culture of China and that of other countries. The school’s concerns this year are:

(1)   Strengthen the internal and external support of the team, and focus on the seven learning objectives of the students.
(2)   Strengthen teaching effectiveness, enhance students' confidence in learning, establish an atmosphere of Chinese culture in the school and equip the future.
(3)   Cultivate students to uphold positive values and practice good life attitudes and behaviors.

I hope that parents and students will establish a good relationship with love and joy in the new school year, that they will be healthy and that God's grace will always be abundant.

Best regards,
