Since its establishment in 1888, Pooi To Middle School (PTMS) has remained true
to her goal in grooming young ladies to contribute to society.

昫社 2000
  • In April, the Education and Manpower Bureau issued the first-ever Value-Added Report, which shows that the school is one of 44 schools with significant added-value.
  • Ms. So Yan-lap, who served Pooi To wholeheartedly for eighteen years, retired in July. The whole school, including Board of Directors, PTA, all staff and students held a farewell party to thank Ms. So’s outstanding contribution to Pooi To.
  • On 31 August, Ms. So went to be with the Lord.
  • In September, Ms. Tsang Enian assumed principalship.

  • Stakeholders gathered to set the school vision as ‘Encourage Growth for All’; and the mission is to provide a mother-tongue education, a loving culture with high expectation and to a wide range of learning experiences for students.
  • An extended staff room was named as ‘Principal So Memorial Room’.

  崚社 2002
  • All teaching staff paid a visit to Guangzhou No.7 Middle School for professional exchange and to enhance the connection between two schools.


曜社 2003
  • 115th Anniversary celebration included Thanksgiving Service, Visiting Roots of Pooi To (Visits to Guangzhou No.7 Middle School and Macau Pooi To Middle School), Open Day, 115th Anniversary Commemoration Publication, etc.
  • Because of the outbreak of SARS, classes were suspended and preventive measures were taken. The Secretary for Education and Manpower, Dr. Lee Kwok-cheung, commended the school during his visit.
  • A time slot for ‘Life-Wide Learning’ was assigned every Friday afternoon to provide students with diversified learning opportunities.

  新 翱社 2004
  • The Education Bureau approved the report on feasible study on the in-situ redevelopment of the school campus.
  • The school looked for a decanting site.

峰社 2005
  • School Redevelopment Committee, Publicity and Fund-raising Committee were established. A Sponsored Walk for School Redevelopment was held at the 117th School Anniversary.
  • The Permanent Secretary for Education and Manpower, Mrs. Fanny Law GBS, JP, paid a visit to the school and had a meeting with parents.
  • 101 Castle Peak Road, former premises of Tack Ching Girls’ Secondary School, was offered by EDB as a decanting site. The school also received government funding ($6 million) for renovation.




暐社 2006
  • Supported by EMB, one S6 class could be added and one S1 class reduced, to accommodate students’ needs.
  • The government allotted $138.5 million for redevelopment of the school campus. The school would be responsible for all additional, above-standard items and trimmings.
  • The first English musical Annie was performed in Ko Shan Theatre.
  • In the last week of June, a series of activities marked Farewell Week, starting from Class Farewell Activity to Thanksgiving Night.
  • On 1 July, more than 2,000 guests and alumnae attended a Thanksgiving Service and activities to bid farewell to the school campus.
  • In September, a new academic year commenced in the decanting premises.

  • On 31August, the IMC was established.
  • On 15 October, Ground-breaking Ceremony was held at the new campus site.
  • The school participated in English Enhancement Scheme, and received government grant for a 6-year English Language Arts Programme and Language Across the Curriculum, and the establishment of Clover TV Channel.




嵩社 2008
  • Under the New Senior Secondary Curriculum, in addition to the four core subjects, ten elective subjects were offered to students.
  • The committee of English Across the Curriculum was founded to incorporate English elements including reading, writing, listening and speaking into other subjects in junior secondary.
  • On 3 April, an anniversary musical Pooi To 120 – A Musical Journey was performed at Jockey Club Auditorium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
  • On 19 June, Topping-out Ceremony for the new campus was held.
  • More academic and cultural exchanges with Guangzhou No.7 Middle School (formerly Pooi To Middle School) were arranged. The Alumni Association was actively seeking the renaming of Guangzhou No.7 Middle School as ‘Pooi To Middle School’.
  • The theme of the year was ‘My Goals · My Growth’, and the bible verse was from Philipians 3:13-14.


日社 2009
  • On 11 March, the school bade farewell to the temporary premises and gave thanks to the Sisters of the Precious Blood who had kindly let us use the Tack Ching campus.
  • On 26 March, classes started in the new premises.
  • On 28 April, to celebrate the official opening of the new school hall, The Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University Orchestra gave a recital in the new hall.
  • In July, affected by the flu epidemic, the post-exam activities and the school closing ceremony were cancelled.
  • The theme of the year was ‘The School in my heart.
  • My heart in my Learning’, and the bible verses were from Hebrews 3:4 and Galatians 6:4.
  • In September, the New Senior Secondary Curriculum was implemented.
  • In September, the Discipline Committee and Guidance & Counselling Committee combined to form the Student Development Team. Two teachers to be in charge for each to support student moral development.


翽社 2010
  • The successful completion of the new school campus is due to the collective effort of overseas and local alumni and friends from all sectors who generously offered resources in all forms, not only financial but contribution of time, service and expertise as well.
  • On 21 March, Secretary for Education Mr. Michael Suen, JP, Chairman of The Hong Kong Baptist Convention Rev. Tong Wing-mun and Hong Kong Baptist Church Head Pastor, Rev. Lau Siu-hong were invited as officiating guests at The New Campus Dedication and Opening Ceremony. Students performed an arts programme Dedicated to You to express our gratitude for the grace of God and the support from those people who love Pooi To.
  • On 13 March, at the Alumni Annual Meeting and Alumni Council Election, the school hall was named as Alumni School Hall.
  • School Museum and Religious Education Centre were installed in Huen Wai Ling Building.
  • The theme of the year was ‘Step Out · Step Up · Follow Christ Step by Step’ and the bible verse was from Luke 9:23.
  • EDB Quality Assurance Division conducted an External School Review (ESR) on our school from 11 to 21 October. The report was very positive.
  • Under the Fine-tuning Policy of the Medium of Instruction for Secondary Schools in Hong Kong, English was adopted as the teaching medium in Mathematics and Integrated Science for all. The three EMI-capable classes also learn History and Computer Literacy in English.
  • A team of Academic Prefects was established. They helped to implement learning programmes and share study strategies in morning assemblies.

  2011
  • The Supervisor, Dr. Ho Hin-hung, who has served the school for 23 years, retired from the post. Dr. Ho Kang-wai, Eddie became the next Supervisor.
  • The Social Service Group had a field trip serving the local community in Cambodia.
  • A 3-week Summer School for HKDSE was held from July to August.
  • The theme of the year was ‘Partners: in Learning, in Growth, in Christ’ and the bible verse was from Ecclesiastes 4:9.
  • Under the Voluntary Optimization of Class Structure Scheme, there were 4 Secondary One classes.
  • Careers and Counselling Team launched the Mentorship Progrmame in which 246 students built mentoring relationships with 91 alumni and parents who represented a variety of profession.
  • PTA held a fund-raising activity SPELLATHON, and a Taiwan Discovery Tour joined by 78 people. The Association also started sponsoring the school’s annual function Arts in Action.

巘社 2012
  • The MOI Focus Inspection was held from 2 May to 4 May. Our Language Policy was highly praised for its comprehensiveness. It was reported that our teachers have a high ability to conduct lessons in English and students have a serious learning attitude.
  • The result of the last A-Level exam was outstanding. Over 60% of students were admitted to an Undergraduate Programme through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS), and Chu Sze-ching attained four As.
  • The Broadening Horizons Day was first held in May, which allowed students to arrange their own activities for exposure or join a school activity.
  • Student Forum was held in the post-exam period to provide an opportunity for students to share ideas and enhance communication with the school.
  • The theme of the year was ‘Embrace and Celebrate: God with us for 125 years!’ and the bible verse was from Romans 8:37.
  • The school joined the ‘2-1-1 proposal of reducing allocated class size’, each class size of S1 class would be reduced by two places in the first school year and one place in the next two school years.

  • —The theme of the school year 2013/14 was ‘God’s Word in my HeartžLearning in my Hands’ and the bible verse was from Psalm 119:105.
  • Publication of 125th Anniversary Yearbook, which  recorded the riches of God’s grace towards Pooi To.
  • In order to adopt MOI fine-tuning policy and increase students’ English language proficiency, Extended Learning Activities were implemented in junior secondary.
  • In October, PTA set up an S-Zone in the school library to provide a better environment for students to study.
  • An Overseas exchange programme ‘Same Root Care – Hong Kong Mainland junior high school a studen exchange programme’ was organized on 14 and 15 November.
  • A series of activities marked the 125th Anniversary:
    • Morning assemblies: Sharing school history and school mission and vision
    • Alumni sharing: Alumni from different generations shared the importance of Pooi To spirit in their lives.
    • On 8 March, ‘Fly, Pooi To, Fly’ by SU and a Thanksgiving Service was held.
    • On 9 March, a Thanksgiving Service and Dinner Party were held on Alumni Day.
    • On 21 March and 22 March, Anniversary Musical The Sound of Music was performed at Jockey Club Auditorium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The Permanent Secretary for EDB Mrs. Tse Ling Kit-ching, Cherry, JP was invited to be the officiating guest.
    • From 1 May to 4 May, 59 teachers took part in a Professional Exchange Tour to Taiwan.
  • The school joined hands with SKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School in the Joint School Exchange Student Scheme.

  • The theme of the school year 2014/15 was ‘GROWTH FOR ALL SEASONS - Pooi To in Hong Kong for 70 years’ and the bible verse was from Ecclesiastes 3:11.
  • Administrative work was electronically simplified like using Parents Apps to sign parents’ letters.
  • The school received government funding (about $500,000) for providing Life Planning Education for all students.
  • Overseas exchange programmes were organized:

  • Ms. Tsang Enian, who served Pooi To earnestly for fifteen years, retired in July. The whole school, including Board of Directors, PTA, all staff and students thanked for her great leadership, remarkable contribution and devotion to Pooi To.
  • In September, Ms Constance Cheung was appointed as principal.
