‘2016 The Best Policymaker Competition’

 

The Liberal Studies Activity Committee took part in ‘2016 The Best Policymaker Competition’ and won several awards including Second runner-up, The Most Innovative Policy Award and The Most Gracious Award. Their outstanding performance and the policy ‘Country Parks Should Be Developed’ were highly praised by the judges.

The team achieved success and won awards among 90 participating schools, on account of their concerted effort and determination. They competed in a dynamic and challenging case competition. They were provided with an opportunity to gain insights into the issue faced by policymakers and could get an in-depth look into the complexities of policy formulation. They were assigned to lobby the stakeholders to support their views on the policy. They included Ms Lau Bo Yee Winnie, Chief Town Planner/Strategic Planning of Planning Department, Mr Roy Tam Hoi Pong, Neo Democratic District Council Member & the founder of Green Sense and Mr Ben Chan Han Pan, JP, a member of Hong Kong Legislative Council (Geographical Constituency New Territories West) and Tsuen Wan District Council (Yeung Uk Road). The whole team enjoyed the policy making process and learnt to adopt a policy which makes the city even more liveable.
