Dear Parents and Students,

This week is revision week. S5 students will have two days (30/5-31/5) to prepare, while S1-S4 students will be dismissed earlier from 30/5-3/6 so that they have enough time for revision in preparation for their Final Examination.

Our Dawn House Graduation Ceremony was successfully completed on 20th May. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Guest of Honor, Prof. Tony Chan, President of HKUST for his engaging speech in which he shared many anecdotes of his life with our students.

He grew up and studied in Shau Kei Wan. After receiving his HKCEE results, he planned to enroll at Queen's College, but he was rejected at first. He did not give up and when another chance came along, he seized the opportunity to enroll again, following strong encouragement from his mother. He was successfully admitted after an interview with the Vice Principal. Professor Chan encouraged our graduates to seize every opportunity. If we don’t try, we can never taste success.

Professor Chan could have enrolled in Medicine in HKU, but he chose to follow his dream to the United States and studied Engineering and Computer Science there, finally obtaining a PhD. At that time, he didn’t think particularly about his prospects but concentrated on chasing his dream. He encouraged our graduates to seek and follow their own interests and develop them.

Professor Chan concluded that life has its limitations and challenges, but that it is also full of opportunities. He encouraged our graduates to dare to take risks and with determination and perseverance, everyone can live a different life. I sincerely hope our Pooi To Girls can learn from Professor Tony Chan's story and continue to unleash their potential and seize every opportunity to grow and glow.

Best regards,
Constance Cheung
