Dear Parents and Students,

Students have just completed their first term exam. Two activities were organized by the PTA last week. A parents' talk on "Challenges and Solutions for Parents of Adolescents" was given by Dr. Benjamin Wat Wai-ho last Friday night and attended by over 100 parents. I couldn’t agree more with what Dr. Wat maintained about the importance of parenting. The role of parents in a family can’t be replaced by anyone else. They should be the heads of their family, nurturing children and uniting the family. As parents, we should give our time, effort and heart to do that. We can actively participate in children’s activities, open discussion on different issues with children and let them understand our expectation in order to create a harmonious family relationship.

The second activity was the film appreciation – “Wonder” which was held last Saturday at EMax Cinema in Kowloon Bay. The house was filled with parents, teachers and students. They were all  impressed and inspired by wonderful Auggie who was born with a facial disease called mandibulofacial dystosis.  His perseverance and kindness helped him to overcome bullying and isolation at school. He said, “If you don’t like where you are, picture where you want to be.” and “Be kind, for everyone is fighting a hard battle. Be kind.” Life is a constant flow of ups and downs as part of the whole that help us to grow and become better people. Remember that when one door is closed, God must open another door to you. If we can’t run to the door, then walk; if we can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever we do, we have to keep moving forward until we achieve our goals. This is what perseverance means. Let’s work together to nurture our next generation.

Best regards,
