17 February 2020

Dear Parents and Students,

Over the past two weeks, the spread of the new Coronavirus has become increasingly serious, and many have transmitted it within a short period of time. The results have been unexpectedly serious. Therefore, during the Coronavirus outbreak period, we should stay clear of crowded places, parties and dinners, and wear masks and wash our hands frequently to prevent infection.

EDB announced the class resumption will be on 16 March the earliest. We are most concerned about our S6 students. The HKEAA has announced that the written test will be held on March 27 or delayed a month. The EDB and HKEAA will decide at the end of February. Students need to make preparations. From February 10th to February 14th, the school held its first home-based exam simulation for S6 students. The participation rate was as high as 97%, and the students prepared well. Facing diploma examinations in addition to the Coronavirus outbreak such as the one we are currently facing can be challenging and testing. However, by facing these challenges with determination and perseverance, taking good care of one’s physical and mental health, and facing the difficulties with the peace and perseverance given by God, they are brave to overcome.

In light of the latest developments of the Coronavirus outbreak, the Education Bureau announced that during the suspension period, students should stay at home to avoid crowded places and pay close attention to personal health. If they are unwell, they should seek medical treatment and inform medical staff as soon as possible of their recent outbound travel records. Parents should suspend their children's extra-curricular activities (such as interest and tutorial classes) during the class suspension period, and should not let the students leave for travel.

Thanks to the IMC manager’s approval, from February 6, the school has provided 5 masks for each student. Although the number is not enough to solve the problem of mask shortage in each family, the school hopes to do what it can to give a little warmth and comfort where possible. Many students and parents have come to school to receive masks.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak and class suspension, the school will adjust the school days and test days accordingly. The latest the school year will end is July 24. Therefore, as it stands, the school year will continue until July 24. Parents, please avoid arranging any trips for your daughter to leave Hong Kong on or before 24 July. In addition, since the resumption date has not yet been determined, and the date of S5 summer school is still to be discussed, S5 students should not arrange personal summer activities until the school announces the details of summer school.

May the Lord preserve Hong Kong and prevent the spread of the virus. Let us humble ourselves, think of others, and offer supplies to those in need. We also hope that everyone at home and at work will conscientiously abide by their positions and protect other citizens. We pray for this and work together to fight the Coronavirus outbreak. In addition, we should be reminded of the potential severity of the Coronavirus outbreak. Suspected and confirmed cases of pneumonia in Wuhan and China are now appearing in different places around the world. Please pray for mercy to stop the Coronavirus outbreak and save lives. May the Lord’s healing hands save everyone’s life, because God gives life and loves us, every life is precious. We pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Best regards,
