Dear Parents and Students,
In this year's "Arts in Action" event, the entire venue was filled with enthusiasm and love. It has become one of the most important annual events for our Pooi To Family and an occasion for students to create collective memories. This is the 17th year that this event has been held, and over this period of time, the school has been committed to providing a range of diverse learning activities based on the arts to cultivate students to not only to improve their appreciation for art, but also to strengthen their skills and literacy in Arts Education.
Throughout the evening, the performers on the stage gave stunning performances that amazed the audience. From orchestral to Chinese music, from Chinese and Western dance to Martial Arts, from the choir to fashion design and then to the musical, the plethora of acts on display presented an audio-visual feast that the audience will never forget. Each performer demonstrated their talent and hard work, using music, dance and drama to interpret personal stories and bring the audience into the moving scenes.
In the audience, parents and schoolmates applauded and cheered enthusiastically, as they gave the most caring support and encouragement to each performer. The stage was full of rhythm and energy, and every scene left a deep impression on the audience. The recognition from the audience was not only an affirmation of the performers, but also the greatest encouragement for their hard work and sweat.
In particular, the performance of the musical "The Addams Family" was moving, and every moment made people feel like they were in a dream world. The eyes of the audience were full of surprise and joy. They were infected by these wonderful performances, their emotions jumped with every beat, and they danced with the performers on the stage.
The success of the "Arts in Action" not only demonstrates the school's emphasis on Arts Education, but also demonstrates the talents and efforts of the students. By participating in such artistic activities, students not only improved their self-confidence, ownership, enjoyment and satisfaction, but also developed their communicative and collaborative skills.
During the preparation and rehearsal process over the last 8 months, students have had to cooperate with each other and work together to present such a wonderful performance. They learnt to appreciate and respect the efforts of others, work as a team, communicate effectively and show leadership, which are very important abilities that will be needed in their future for both daily life and work. The success of the event also highlighted Pooi To’s long-term development and efforts in Arts Education. The school provides a variety of art courses and learning opportunities, and attaches great importance to students' aesthetic development. This learning environment provides students with a platform to display their talents and develop their potential, while also cultivating their love and pursuit of art.
In the future, "Arts in Action" will continue to be held to provide students with ample opportunities to showcase their talents, while also continuing to cultivate students' passion and interest in art. Through such efforts, Pooi To will continue to lead the students in Arts Education and open up a broader path for their growth and development. One more piece of good news to share is about our school’s drama group that participated in the 2023/24 Hong Kong Schools Drama Festival and achieved extraordinary results, including an Award for Outstanding Script, Award for Outstanding Director, Award for Outstanding Performers, Award for Outstanding Stage Effects, Award for Outstanding Cooperation and the Grand “Adjudicators' Award” for which they can perform to the public at 7:30 p.m. on April 30th at the Ko Shan Theater New Wing. This is another recognition of Pooi To’s development of students' performing arts passion and ability, and parents are welcome to go and support them.
Best regards,
Constance Cheung
