Dear Parents and Students,
As Christmas approaches, we gather to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, a symbol of hope, love, and peace for many around the world. As the Bible reminds us, "When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him" (Matthew 2:10-11). This season emphasizes the importance of joy and togetherness, encouraging families to come together and share meaningful moments. As we reflect on the teachings of Christ, let us embrace compassion, kindness, and gratitude. This is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen family bonds, create lasting memories, and spread goodwill to those around us, especially to those in need. Let us cherish this time of unity that embodies the true essence of Christmas.
As we celebrate this holiday season, our girls will be attending various parties. It's important to remember that while our girls are kind and gentle, they should also be taught to protect themselves. Encourage them to keep a close eye on their beverages, especially in social settings. It’s all too easy for someone to slip something unwanted, like drugs or “space oil,” into an unattended drink. Reinforcing this message will help them stay safe and enjoy the festivities with peace of mind.
During the holidays, students may encounter new people or friends. Recent reports have highlighted the dangers of "space oil," commonly vaped through e-cigarettes, which can produce transient euphoria and lead to addiction. Its popularity among young people is rising, with some sellers openly marketing it on social media. It’s crucial to remind your daughter to remain vigilant about her drinks at parties.
Additionally, during this festive season, it's important for parents to gently remind their daughters to carve out some time for revision. While enjoying the holiday celebrations, they should also prepare for their first-term examinations that follow shortly after Christmas. Balancing relaxation with study will help them feel more confident and ready for their exams. Encouraging them to create a study schedule amidst the festivities can ensure they stay on track, allowing them to enjoy the season while also preparing for their academic responsibilities.
“The First Pooi To Basketball Invitational Competition (Primary Section)" held last Saturday was a resounding success, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of eight elite primary school athletes throughout the day. The event was filled with excitement as students displayed their basketball skills, while their teachers and parents provided unwavering support from the sidelines. The vibrant atmosphere fostered a sense of community and sportsmanship, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved. This competition not only highlighted the athletic abilities of the young players but also reinforced the importance of teamwork and dedication in sports.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Best regards,
Constance Cheung
