Dear Parents and Students,

Recent changes in international trade, along with policy adjustments and economic trends involving various countries, have had a significant impact on the global and our national economic environment. In this challenging time, we must remain steadfast in our beliefs, exercise patience, collaborate, and guide the next generation with a positive attitude as we face a variety of future challenges together.

The current changes in the international economic landscape, particularly the fluctuations in policies and markets from the United States, one of the largest economies in the world, cannot be ignored. These changes often directly affect global market liquidity and investment confidence, influencing capital flows into other countries and putting pressure on our economic growth.

However, we must also recognize that history shows us that any external pressure can become an opportunity to unleash our internal potential. Looking back over the past few decades, for example:

  • In the 1980s, facing industrial transformation, we nurtured our first batch of high-tech talents.
  • After the 1997 Asian financial crisis, we established a world-class financial regulatory system.
  • During the 2008 global crisis, our digital economy began to soar.

Each challenge has become a springboard for advancement, not by chance, but because our nation has consistently adhered to the spirit of self-innovation, seeking opportunities in crises, and uniting as one. We have faced countless challenges, and each difficulty has made us more united and resilient, contributing to our country's significant position in the world today. These experiences have taught us that unity is key to overcoming challenges, and every hardship is an opportunity for growth and progress.

In recent years, global technological competition has intensified, and the autonomy of key technologies has become central to national development. Therefore, nurturing the next generation with innovative capabilities and technological literacy, and encouraging them to harness artificial intelligence to create more possibilities is essential for building the foundation of our nation's future competitiveness. At the same time, we urge parents and schools to work together to encourage children to pay attention to Hong Kong and our local industries and culture. Supporting local brands and understanding traditional values not only strengthens economic resilience but also fosters a sense of national identity and responsibility in our children.

In these changing times, instilling values is more important than imparting knowledge. We hope that students' futures will not only be as professionals but also embody the qualities represented by our school motto "Love, Integrity, Purity, and Perseverance," as shown below.

  • Love: empathy, filial piety, respect for others, unity, and benevolence
  • Integrity: integrity and law-abidingness
  • Purity: national identity and purity
  • Perseverance: perseverance, diligence, responsibility and commitment

We should teach our children to establish correct values, helping them understand that success depends not only on external circumstances but also on their own efforts and perseverance. By nurturing their resilience, we can enable them to face challenges bravely rather than retreating.

Let us work together, keeping calm and steadfast in our beliefs in this uncertain era, guiding the next generation as we confront future challenges and create a brighter tomorrow. The road ahead may be difficult, but as long as we unite in our efforts, we will surely welcome the dawn of hope.

Best regards,
Constance Cheung
