Date: 24 May 2024 The graduation ceremony marked a milestone in the lives of our S6 students. The ceremony commenced with a melodious musical prelude, followed by hymn singing and scripture reading to give thanks to God's care and guidance. The Principal, Ms. Cheung, shared in her school report the academic achievements and character growth of students throughout the year. The School Supervisor, Mr. Lee, and Ms. Cheung then presented Long Service Awards to staff in recognition of their dedicated contributions over the years. The Guest of Honour, Professor Alexander Ping-kong Wai, President of Hong Kong Baptist University, encouraged graduates to embrace technological advancements with a positive and proactive mindset, equipping themselves with diverse skills to face global challenges. Professor Wai first outlined the current challenges facing the world, including geopolitical conflicts, opportunities brought by artificial intelligence development, and the balance between environmental protection and societal progress. He urged graduates to approach technological developments like smartphones and e-wallets, which have brought convenience to human life, with a spirit of active pursuit and innovative learning. At the same time, technological advancements have brought challenges, such as the emergence of ChatGPT in artificial intelligence, leading to strikes by Hollywood film industry workers fearing job displacement. Professor Wai encouraged graduates not to fear the rise of AI but to equip themselves with knowledge from different disciplines to adapt to new changes. In the wave of technological advancements, mastering interdisciplinary knowledge can enable individuals to thrive, benefiting their academic and career development. Using social media influencers as an example, Professor Wai emphasised that they not only excel in public speaking but also require skills in event management, videography, financial planning, and more. He encouraged graduates to become well-rounded individuals with diverse capabilities to excel in the new era. Subsequently, award presenters honoured students for their outstanding academic and moral achievements. The Head Prefect, on behalf of all graduating students, expressed gratitude to the Principal, teachers, staff, and parents for their nurturing and care over the years, enabling them to learn and acquire knowledge and etiquette. Finally, the choir performed "The Clare Benediction" and "Beholding the Lord's Wonderful Will," wishing God's constant presence with the S6 graduates. Empowered by the Lord, may they courageously overcome challenges and obstacles under God's guidance, leading, and care, living out the spirit of Christ and bearing witness to Him. |
