Date:25-27 June 2025 The Chinese History Department of our school led 20 Secondary 3 and 4 students on a "Dongjiang Water Source Study Tour" organized by the Greater Bay Area Common Home Youth Charity Foundation. The delegation comprised 600 participants from 15 secondary schools for an immersive three-day, two-night field study. The tour commenced at West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station, where participants boarded a dedicated MTR train to Heyuan. The itinerary featured multiple significant sites: Students cruised on Wanlv Lake, South China's largest artificial reservoir renowned as the "Celestial Jade Pool"; crossed provincial borders to Mount Sanbai in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province to trace the Dongjiang River's source, ascending by cable car to witness the Dongjiang First Waterfall and the Siyuan Baoding (Fountainhead Ritual Tripod), while braving a 300-meter-high glass-bottom suspension bridge; explored Jiangxi's largest Hakka square courtyard complex, Dongsheng Wei; investigated Nongfu Spring's production facility to understand water purification processes; observed the Xinfengjiang Reservoir Dam as testament to national hydroengineering achievements; and visited Heyuan Dinosaur Museum to examine over 20,000 dinosaur egg fossils holding Guinness World Records. This expedition enabled students to thoroughly comprehend Hong Kong's water supply origins, personally witness national water infrastructure accomplishments, and appreciate Hakka cultural heritage alongside natural ecosystems, yielding substantial educational benefits. |
