I have been reading the Clover Magazine since Form 1 and it is an incredible
honor to become the newest editor-in-chief of this year’s issue. Just like all the previous
issues, we hope to help students learn English in a fun way and more importantly, to
connect and learn from one another.

This year’s EAC slogan is ‘Think Big, Start Small’. It is easy to be trapped in
the cage of self-imposed limits, when it is a known fact that everyone has endless
possibilities. ‘Thinking big’ isn’t daydreaming. It allows you to break free from the prison
that is your own mind and take back control of your infinite possibilities. After all, the
size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. However, no matter how
ambitious you are, you have to be patient and start somewhere small. By taking small
steps, one at a time, you will realize your goal is more attainable than you thought and
it will give you the momentum to finish what you started. With this sort of mentality, you
will be reaching for the stars in no time. I hope that Clover can be one of the small steps
you take. By learning from your peers, I hope you can get an idea of how to improve
yourselves, and that this magazine can encourage you to embark on your own journey.

I would like to take the chance to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ms Leung and
Mr Middleton, for giving me such an opportunity to explore and gain insights from
various occasions. I would also like to thank all our team members. Without their
assistance and diligence, we could not make this issue happen. I may not be the
perfect chief editor, but we do make a perfect team.
We may have many regrets in life, especially during the pandemic. In this issue,
allow us to look back on the previous year and pause amidst the chaos. With reflection,
eventually we can gain a new perspective and continue to improve ourselves.

                                                                                                     5B Renee Chan
Since entering Pooi To, I have always enjoyed reading our school’s Clover Magazine. Not only can
I enhance my English through reading, but I can also read my fellow schoolmates’ reflections on various
activities both inside and outside of school. Providing an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a
completely English environment, Clover offers a platform that allows us to really brush up on and enhance our
English, which is essential when living in a bilingual environment.

Being a secondary student, I believe we all are creative and have aspirations. In our daily lives, we have
countless ideas for dream jobs and developing our hobbies and interests. However, we do not always manage
to realise these dreams, and they may seem to end in failure. I believe that unrealistic goals are the main
cause of this, as nowadays it is easy to get ahead of oneself. Being overconfident may affect our judgment,
leading to frustration down the line, which brings to mind this year's slogan, ‘Think big, start small’. Instead
of taking on too much when starting a new project or task, we should take small steps. Think of possible
solutions and make a plan, since there are not any shortcuts to overtake others. Sometimes the shortcut you
see may just be an illusion based on arrogance. Don’t let this fool you, be realistic with the targets you set.
To finish, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to Ms Leung, Mr Middleton
and our school teacher advisers. They have dedicated their time and strength to support our team and provide
us with encouragement. It is definitely an honour to be one of the two chief editors this year, hopefully you all
can enjoy reading our magazine and benefit from it.
