This year for the first time (drum roll reaching a crescendo)
Pooi To has fi elded a team in one of Hong Kong’s English language
debati ng competi ti ons. As this is our fi rst foray into this format,
it has taken some time to find our footing in the competition.
Nonetheless, our performance standard has been impressive and
improving. With 5 contests under our belts, all of our debaters
have improved their skills and boosted their confi dence.
After a debut experience against TMCC Holm Glad College,
Charlotte Chui Hiu 4A(5) won best Debater Award in the
competi ti on against Ho Man Tin Government Secondary School.
After an out-of-competition debate with King Ling College, our
girls performed creditably against Kwun Tong Maryknoll. Pitted
against Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School during their recent visit
our team showed that they can match wits with the best.
All in all, it was a very rewarding year for the Pooi To ship of
debati ng and all who sail in her.
