Principal’s Message

Pooi To is a big family. The teachers and students work together to make school life more
encouraging, interesting and supportive. Pooi To is a place to develop your resilience and
confidence, so that you can keep moving forwards in your life. But of course, the sky isn't
always blue and the sun doesn't always shine. When you are in the storm, you need not
run from it; instead you should rise about it like an eagle. This is the perfect embodiment
of this year’s school theme “Renew our strength and soar like eagles.” We must learn
humbly to wait upon the Lord and renew our strength. His ways are far beyond our
          understanding.
Watoto church choir who performed for us in November drew our attention to this
program which cares for an overwhelming number of orphaned children in Uganda. God
has created this amazing mission in Africa and we are honored to be a part of their journey.
We can see there is no limit to His provision.

Clover is a magazine that can help our Pooi To family to be even more united through improved communications. Clover is the
repository for us to record the stories of all those who come to see us as well as our own stories. It inspires and promotes more
interaction between Pooi To and the world.

I congratulate the editorial staff for their great work on Clover and commend it to you all.

          Ms. Constance Cheung

I guess it was the experience of interviewing the children of Watoto which made me realize what an
exciting job journalism can be. That, and the chance to collaborate with smart insightful people like
                                 Lily and Sumee.

Then there are all the different aspects to making a magazine great; cover design, formatting and
graphic enhancement all contribute to the finished product.

Nevertheless, the really interesting part is when you take the transcript of interviews with
interesting people and turn that into something that people would want to read!

          Editorial: My dream comes true

My story begins at S1 Registration Day. A freshman at Pooi To Middle School, I am keen to get to know
the place where I am going to stay for six years. Suddenly, an eye-catching magazine grabs my
attention – that is, “Clover”, the shortcut to know more about the school. The content of Clover
is definitely my cup of tea, talks with celebrities, fun facts about our school, teachers, and our
community...you name it! Since then, I always look forward to receiving the latest issue.

I never thought that I would become a member of the editorial board and provide our
schoolmates with the English magazine. As the editors of Clover, we write and collect various
articles and conduct interviews with different people, so as to develop students’ interest in
reading English. We are also learners; during the process and we have learnt many interview and
writing skills. I believe those things we learn can be beneficial to us.

Great oaks from little acorns grow so we have tried our best to make our magazine the best it can be. Without our teachers’
help, we could not produce Clover efficiently. Also, I would like to thank the people I have interviewed. Your inspirational sharing
enriches my mind. Last but not least, thank you for reading our latest Clover!

          Please enjoy!
