Time to Talk alk
Have you seen The Greatest Showman? How do you feel about self-confidence, believing in yourself and not allowing
bullies to bring you down? Well, these themes and the song ‘This Is Me’ from The Greatest Showman were the inspiration
for two groups of Pooi To students who entered the Time to Talk public speaking competition, organised by the EDB NET
Section.
After completing Round One in the S3 EXCEL lesson using a PPT to deliver a 5-minute presentation, they brushed up their
delivery to compete against other schools in the final. Using dramatic role-plays and even singing part of a song, they were
able to capture the attention of the audience and take two of the five awards on offer. They were:

It’s our honour to participate in the Time to Talk competition 3A Kelly Chan
After the competition, a mix of emotions rushed over
and we are all so glad and grateful for winning the trophy! In
this competition, we spent a lot of time practising, arriving at
school at seven o’clock in the morning and so on. However, me. I couldn’t imagine how my group and I had put in so
all our hard work paid off after trying our very best. Not much effort and given such a spectacular speech! It was
only building up our team spirit and confidence, but also an unforgettable experience. I felt relieved and satisfied
learning what “public speaking” is. Moreover, we would like because we received lots of compliments from our teachers
and friends. I feel more confident after speaking in front of
to express our gratitude to our teacher, Mr Middleton, who

As we place such a
high value on reading, Reading has always been something I
