Since its establishment in 1888, Pooi To Middle School (PTMS) has remained true
to her goal in grooming young ladies to contribute to society.


World War II Period 1937 - 1944
       


1937
  • Air raid in Guangzhou due to Lugouqiao Incident. More than 20 students followed the teachers to escape to Shiuhing.
  • When the school opened in Zhào Qìng on 27 September, the number of students increased to 75.
  • Ÿ Students showed their enthusiastic support by making warm clothing for soldiers and saving money for buying bonds.




1938
  • Ÿ The whole school moved from Shiuhing  to Kwong Wah Street in Hong Kong.
  • Pooi To Middle School (Shiuhing Branch) affiliated Primary School was opened.

1939  

1940
  • The Primary Division moved to Stirling Road Baptist Church.

1941
  • Classes were suspended when Hong Kong was air raided by the Japanese in December.
  • During the Second World War, the principal insisted on running the school. Pui Ching and Pooi To Joint Secondary School was set up in Ping Shek.

 
1942
  • The school moved to Macau in February.
  • Pui Ching and Pooi To Joint Secondary School was set up by Mr Wan Yiu-bun in Gui Lin.
  • Ms. Mak Kwai-leung was appointed as Acting Principal of the school in Macau.

 
1943  

1944
  • Ms. Mak, the Acting Principal, resigned and Dr. Lam Chi-fung was temporarily appointed as principal.
