Since its establishment in 1888, Pooi To Middle School (PTMS) has remained true
to her goal in grooming young ladies to contribute to society.

  峘社 1978
  • 39 Non-profit Private Assisted Schools had become Aided Schools since 1975. The school officially became an Aided School.

旼社 1979
  • ‘Tong Po Kwan Memorial Hall’ donated by Tong family was completed in November.
  • ‘School Management & Staff Consultative Committee’ was established.

  耀社 1980
  • Pooi To Primary School, which could accommodate 1,300 students, was established in Ma Tau Chung.

  嵐社 1981  

晟社 1982
  • Ms. So Yan-lap served as the principal from 1982-2000.
  • As the secondary had become an Aided School, administration of primary and secondary sections became independent.
  • In September, Ms. Wong Wai-ching served as the principal of primary section.

  • Prefect Team was founded.

  嶢社 1984
  • ‘Pooi To Corridor’, which connected the Main Hall and Memorial Hall, was built.

  景社 1985
  • The first Swimming Gala was held.

  • The celebration of 100th anniversary
  • 100th anniversary Yearbook was published. ‘Centennial School Development Project’ was launched.
  • HK$300,000 was raised.
  • All teaching staff and students warmly welcomed the visit of Lady Wilson, wife of the Governor.

翯社 1989
  • Administrative management was fully computerized.
  • Sound insulation was installed.
  • Former Principal Helen Huen passed away on 24th January.
  • Lady Wilson, wife of the Governor attended a ribbon cutting ceremony that honoured the opening of ‘Lotus Terrace’ in December.

  巒社 1990  

  昊社 1991
  • ‘6-day Cycle’ was implemented.

  習社 1992
  • A 2-year A Level course started in September.
  • School Administration Committee was set up.
  • To commemorate the wife of Dr. Lam Chi-fung, Mrs. Chan Chik-ting, her son Lam Sze-hin made a donation of $200,000 to build a recreation area next to Memorial Hall.

  崢社 1993
  • Big Sister Homework Scheme’ was launched.
  • ‘Whole School Approach to Guidance Team’ was set up in September.
  • ‘Helen Huen Wai-ling Scholarship’ was set up in memory of Principal Huen.

  晰社 1994
  • The results of the first Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination were outstanding.
  • Parent-Teacher Association was established.

翠社 1995
  • Junior forms changed the uniform from cheongsam to pinafore gradually. (Uniforms for senior forms remained unchanged.) ‘Academic Award Scheme was launched for junior forms.

  山社 1996
  • Principal So awarded the Badge of Honour by the Queen of England.
  • Parents’ Association made a donation of $120,000 for the installation of air conditioning in the School Hall.
  • School newspaper Bridge won the Champion and the Most Creative Award in the Hong Kong Secondary School Newspaper Competition.

  晉社 1997  

  翪社 1998
  • Our school took the initiate to join the Quality Assurance Inspection and won acclaim in the four domains of Management and Organization, Learning and Teaching, Student Support and School Ethos, and Attainment and Achievement.
  • School-based Curriculum Development Plan was implemented and three projects were funded by the Quality Education Fund.
  • Principal So was awarded ‘Bronze Bauhinia Star’.

  嶠社 1999
  • Staff Development Team and General Affairs Team were set up in order to further the school’s development and administrative management.
