Editors’ Messages
‘Always make new mistakes.’ I have always admired this quote,
especially after hearing it in the weekly EAC broadcasts. Youth is
a stage for discovery and exploration. Perhaps this is the thing I
like most about school life in Pooi To - the freedom to fall down,
get up, only to fall down again. And the best thing is that there
are always friends and teachers around me who will be there to
cheer me on as I get up again.
A warm feeling at every flip of the page shows hard work has paid
off. I am honoured to be an editor of Clover, it has inspired me
to think from multiple perspectives and it has been a pleasure
working with my fellow editors.
With that being said, I would like to take this opportunity to
thank Ms Leung and Mr Middleton, our teacher advisors, for
their unlimited assistance and guidance in times of uncertainty.

It’s widely known that the Clover Magazine is a
useful tool to help develop our English proficiency.
Through reading a variety of well-written articles by the past writers and reporters in previous magazines, I was deeply
impressed by the way they wrote. Their choice of words, sentence patterns and even the concepts of the articles were well
– expressed. It is a truly fantastic way for me to boost my vocabulary bank and diversify my sentence structures. I believe
that this is something every one of you can benefit from.
Another skill that has been greatly enhanced through this experience is my ability to speak in real life situations. Before
interviewing celebrities for Clover, I was a person who easily got nervous. I must admit that despite the in-depth
preparation I had done before the interview, like pretending to show our special guest around our campus (more than
once), when the real moment came I was incredibly nervous about what to say. However, I tried to stay calm and stick to
my notes during the interview. It was a valuable experience.
In addition, my ability to work with others and my appreciation for teamwork has come on leaps and bounds. I used to
believe that I was only required to look after my own work. It hadn’t crossed my mind that if you want a project to run
smoothly, you have to keep an eye out for other members of your team, reminding them to do things when necessary or
giving them some assistance. There were definitely a few cases where I couldn't manage to think of any appropriate follow-
up questions to ask, or deal with some embarrassing moments during the interview. Fortunately, my partner Chloe was so
nice that she repeatedly came to my rescue, sometimes by communicating with only her eyes. Thank God. I now have a
much deeper understanding of the importance of teamwork and collective effort.
Last but not least, I must express my gratitude to the people around us starting with our principal, Ms Cheung, who has
always supported Clover Magazine. I must also mention our teachers, who always gave us mental support as well as
encouragement when we were anxious. And finally, all of the hidden heroes, who put 110% effort into every task in order
to meet the deadline. Without your help, our magazine could never have been published.
I hope all of you can really read what we have put together. Although it may not be perfect, I believe, we the Clover team,
have taken a step further to make our magazine more appealing. So, let us endeavor to further our English with fun and
pleasure by flipping through the pages of this magazine from start to finish. May God bless all of you.
