Chairladies
Chloe Lee
If we give 100% to what we are doing, we will definitely be rewarded.
From the past year, I have given it my all as the chairlady of the EAC and
what I have gotten in return is a learning experience I truly treasure. I must
admit my cockiness was once my problem and I was overconfident in
English. If you get good grades it means you are good at that subject, right?
However, I learnt that it wasn’t the case, as being good in a test doesn’t
automatically mean that you are an expert in said subject. There is much
Movie Appreciation room for improvement and plenty of knowledge you cannot simply learn
by listening in class. I have done quite a few morning assembly speeches
that helped me practise both my speaking skills and basic knowledge of
the world. During practice, I felt myself lacking in certain criteria which I had
expected to nail perfectly. This was a shock to me as I was overconfident.
The whole experience gave me a sense of humility and sends out the
message that people should never stop trying to improve. Just because your
report card says you are good, it doesn’t mean that you can’t be better. One
day, I hope to master the English language, but it will be a hard journey. I
think this year’s slogan “Think Big and Start Small” sums up what I should be
doing. I should participate in many other English activities to learn more and
be more knowledgeable in English. Baby steps like this can help hone my
skills so that I can become a better version of myself. I hope more people will
be motivated to take on the path of self improvement and be part of the EAC!

Time flies, I can’t believe my secondary school life is almost over. When
I look back on what I have learnt over these five years, I find that the EAC
Chairladies has contributed a lot to my learning. Before I became a member of the EAC,
participating in each of its activities helped me improve my English, but also
enhanced my general knowledge in a variety of areas, such as portmanteau
and fables. However, after joining the EAC last year as a chairlady, I noticed
that it is far more than a platform that only imparts knowledge, but a place
for me to find my own interests, including writing scripts, creating English
short clips, speaking and making PowerPoints for the English sharings, etc.
By developing these interests, my school life has become more enriching.
During my busy school life, the EAC has given me a place to do what I
love, and also relax. Furthermore, the EAC has different themes each year
to inspire and encourage students. Each of them has their own meaning
and they are all very motivating to me during the ups and downs that I
have encountered over these five years. One example is this year’s theme
“Think Big and Start Small”, it reminds me to keep a positive mindset during
hard times as there are a full range of possible futures despite any present
failures. The EAC has been with me through these past five years, and the
knowledge I've gained from it is far more than I could have imagined. It's
been both a source of my motivation and a partner for me throughout this
hectic school life. I would like to thank the EAC for being with me over these
five years! I will cherish every moment I have spent being in the EAC and will
continue to learn more!
