Congratulations to our S5 students, Kwok Ka Ni, Ngai Ka Ying, and Chan Ying Yu, for their outstanding achievement in the "Tracing the Origins" Inter-school History Research Paper Competition, co-organized by the Hong Kong Historical Enthusiasts Association, the Harbour Association, and the History Education Association of Macau. Based on their rigorous historical research, they were honored with the competition's highest distinction, the "Grade A Research Paper Award." Their Chinese History teacher, Ms. Wong Ling Han, was also recognized with the "Grade A Mentor Award."
Their paper, titled "Exploring the Resilience and Cultural Heritage of South China Mission Schools through Pooi To Middle School’s Wartime Relocation and Hong Kong Re-establishment (1937–1954)," utilized precious primary sources from our school archives, such as the 50th Anniversary Special Issue and the 125th Anniversary Special Issue. The research successfully demonstrated the triple resilience and cultural continuity shown by our school during that period, establishing Pooi To as a model for Christian girls' education in South China. This award-winning paper will be published in the Tracing the Origins: Hong Kong Youth History Journal, co-published by the Hong Kong-Shanghai Development Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the organizing bodies.
Furthermore, the students were invited to the research presentation ceremony held at CUHK this morning. With their exceptional performance, they secured another victory by winning the "Outstanding Presentation Award." During the event, our teachers and students met with their counterparts from Macao Pooi To Middle School, who had also traveled to Hong Kong to compete and receive awards. The two schools engaged in a warm and friendly exchange, creating a vibrant atmosphere. We wish for both Pooi To schools in Hong Kong and Macau to continue moving forward hand-in-hand, striving together to promote our school's history and fine traditions.
