N ow that we have been producing musicals for more

than a decade, Pooi To’s formidable creative team
decided this year to assert ownership over the en� re
process… and write their own.
Not only did Ms Tobey Tong produce a script about
the school’s 130 year history, but teachers and alum-
nae contributed libretti and lyrics to a production
which also includes a selec� on of favourites from past
musical dramas.
The final outcome was breathtakingly engaging for
our students and staff and entertaining for our guests.

Synopsis

Jane, a high achiever, an outstanding leader and a favourite of the
teachers, is a social outcast among her schoolmates because of her
arrogance and pride. By contrast her best friend, Eliza, is smart and
humble, with the virtues of “love, integrity, purity and perseverance”.
She sees the good in others and understands the needs of herself and
her friends.
In Pooi To, a home to them, they start a magical journey - through the
pond to � mes gone by. They embark on an adventure of self-discovery
and learn a lesson of paramount importance - that is to uphold the vir-
tues of love, integrity, purity and perseverance that have been taught
in Pooi To for 130 years. This is The Year of Fes� val, where everyone
can celebrate their growth in life.
