To introduce Secondary 1 students to the traditional craft of flower buttons (Cheongsam buttons), the "Straight Button" (Yat-zi-nau) has been integrated into our school’s Technology and Living curriculum.
As students coil the cords to form these buttons, the repetitive process of shaping and smoothing is more than just a craft lesson; it is an opportunity to experience the focus and patience embodied in the ancient wisdom of "devoting a lifetime to a single craft."
Today, blessed with beautiful weather, our Secondary 1 students personally fastened their colorful, handmade "Straight Buttons" onto their Cheongsam uniforms. Positioned side-by-side with the original buttons along the diagonal collar, these vibrant additions brought a splash of color to the simple and elegant school dress.
