S4 Geography field study

Today, S4 Geography students conducted a field study in Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, in preparation for HKDSE fieldwork questions.

Students observed farming practices, crop types, and land use to identify and classify different types of agriculture, and compared commercial and subsistence farming. They also measured soil fertility and interviewed farmers to understand human inputs in agricultural production.

Through observation, measurement, and interviews, students collected primary data, linking classroom knowledge with real-world contexts and strengthening their readiness for fieldwork questions.

Throughout the study, students were engaged and proactive—eager to interact with farmers and learn from real situations. They actively used field instruments to collect data and test their hypotheses, and showed strong interest by asking questions along the way.
