S6 Geography Field Trip

S6 Geography students conducted a field study at the East Dam of High Island Reservoir and Pak Lap Village to learn about geology, landforms, and human geography. At the East Dam, they observed the spectacular hexagonal columnar tuff and noted the fault breccia zone formed by faulting, which deepened their understanding of how crustal movement influences geological and geomorphological features. They then visited Pak Lap Village, where they explored how rural communities, under conservation and sustainable development approaches, make use of eco-tourism and cultural preservation to strike a balance between environmental protection and rural development.
