S5 Shaoguan Mainland Study Tour (Extended Learning Days)
Congratulations to Ceci Leung and Bonnie Chan for winning the "Sir Edward Youde Memorial Prizes for Senior Secondary School Students". These prizes aim to encourage secondary school students to achieve a high level of academic excellence and develop their leadership skills.   S1 and S4 students participated in the Guangzhou No. 7 Sister School Exchange Tour. Our sister school warmly welcomed our teachers and students. This exchange allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of the historical connections between the two schools and observe Chinese and English classes, benefiting greatly from the experience.   S5 students participated in the Citizenship and Social Education "Shaoguan Mainland Study Tour." They began by visiting Danxia Mountain, and with professional guidance they explored its stunning landforms and gained insights into the geological features and ecosystem of this World Natural Heritage site.

The S4 Leadership Training Camp focused on developing students' leadership skills, values, and practical abilities. Through a series of activities, students enhanced their critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills, laying a solid foundation for future leadership roles.   S3 students participated in the "Shared Roots – Zhaoqing's Natural Landscape and Conservation" trip. They visited the Seven Star Crags, marveling at the impressive karst formations while learning about the importance of environmental conservation for cultural heritage and ecological balance.   The S2 Growth Camp aimed to help students embrace Christian values and cultivate a positive mindset through a variety of activities. The camp simulated different life stages, teaching students how to face challenges and maintain a positive attitude.

Students Excel in National Day Celebration Competition
S1 students enjoyed a fulfilling day at Ocean Park, where they experienced thrilling rides and explored various exhibitions, deepening their understanding of marine ecology and animal conservation.   The event was filled with joy and nostalgia as alumni revisited their campus days and took pride in the school's development. Drawn by deep affection for their alma mater, alumni returned to campus on Alumni Day to relive cherished memories.   Hailey Yeung, Hazel Chan, and Grace Yip have been awarded a Merit Award in a national day celebration competition organised by the East Kowloon Youth Society. The event promotes students' understanding of our country and strengthens national identity.

137th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service
On International Women's Day, the principal, teachers, students, and parents came together at MCL The One Cinema for a special screening of Ne Zha: The Devil's Child. This remarkable film not only highlights the exceptional animation talent of our country but also delivers powerful messages and values.   Our S1 to S5 students participated in the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Learning Programme 2024/25 and achieved outstanding results, receiving the Distinguished Sustainable Development Award, the Outstanding Presentation Award, and the overall Second Prize.   To celebrate the 137th anniversary of Pooi To, a thanksgiving service was held on Friday, featuring Bible readings, hymn singing, and prayer. We invited alumna Keli But, who is currently studying Law at CUHK, to share how Pooi To transformed her life.

Etiquette Ambassador Training Completed Successfully
Iris Man, Christy Chan, and Sonia Tam of S3 participated in the 2024 National Identity Mobile App Design Competition, organized by Hong Kong Education City.   Our Lady of the Rosary College and our school jointly organized an inter-school exchange programme. Eight of our S.3 students visited OLR to broaden their horizons and enhance their learning experiences through attending classes and participating in various activities.   Our school recently completed a comprehensive three-session Etiquette Ambassador Training Programme. We extend special gratitude to our distinguished alumna, Ms Liz Kam, who served as the professional instructor, providing expert guidance to our junior students.

Our S4 student, Cindy Hu, was one of the 25 finalists in the "Explore Macau: 25 Years of Splendor – Secondary School Student Creative Itinerary Design Competition."   Congratulations to Anke Tse (S1) for achieving third place in the individual 363 cycle event and fourth place in the individual 333 cycle event at the 12-year-old female division of WSSA Sport Stacking Asian Championship 2024.   Our Secondary 2 students visited Sai Kung for a field trip. They toured the Tin Hau Temple, a declared monument, where they learned about traditional fishing community beliefs and customs.

Congratulations to the PTMS Dance Team for winning a Highly Commended Award at the 61st Schools Dance Festival! We thank Ms. Joanne Wong for leading the team and Ms. Jenny Lui for choreographing the dance “Wonderland 2.0”.   Jointly organised by the Student Learning Development Committee and the Life Planning Team, campus tours to local universities were successfully held.   The S3 Career Board Display Competition 2024-25, jointly organized by the Life Planning Committee and English Department, has been successfully concluded. Art and technology have been continuously integrating, with technological advancement providing artists with diverse tools, constantly transforming artistic creation and expression methods.   The LaC Fair, held successfully on February 11th, was organized in collaboration with the Music, Physical Education, Visual Arts, EAC, and English departments. Chinese New Year Carnival at Yau Ma Tei Catholic Primary School
RTHK TV 31 and Radio 5's program "Meet the Masters!" series featured Chinese flower button master Ms. Mercy Mak and our Principal. Ms. Mak shared the history, creation process, and innovations of Chinese flower buttons.   This year's Chinese New Year Celebration received tremendous support from parents, teachers, and students. The event featured various Chinese cultural activities, including traditional games, riddles, creative handicraft workshops, and spring couplet writing.   Our school was invited to participate in the Chinese New Year Carnival at Yau Ma Tei Catholic Primary School (Hoi Wang Road) today. The theme was "Experiencing Intangible Cultural Heritage Through Five Senses."

Brilliant Results at Hong Kong International a cappella Contest 2024
Chinese flower buttons have been listed in Hong Kong's first Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory. To preserve this cultural heritage, our school organized a "Chinese Flower Button Making Workshop" and invited Ms. Mercy Mak to teach students and teachers the art of making flower buttons.   The Civil Ambassadors participated in the “Tomorrow’s Leaders Program - Basic Law Competition Workshop,” organized by the Hok Yau Club, in which they won the Second Award.   Our school's A Cappella Team won the Champion and the Outstanding Performance Award for our outstanding harmony in the Secondary School Pop Chorus Category at the Hong Kong International A Cappella Competition 2024.

During this activity, our S6 girls enhanced their understanding of the importance of effective communication with their parents as they prepare for the DSE.  

Our annual Christmas celebrations at Pooi To began with a solemn Christmas Service where we humble ourselves in worship to remember the birth of Christ.

  The Christmas Caroling 2024 event was successfully held in the open playground during lunchtime on December 18th. The choir, orchestra, and a cappella group delivered performances that created a joyful and festive atmosphere.

Congratulations to Yoyo Cheng from S5 for receiving the prestigious "Ng Teng Fong Scholarship 2024". This scholarship recognizes outstanding secondary school students who demonstrate diligence in studies, academic excellence, law-abiding behavior, and exemplary character.  

The first Pooi To Basketball Invitational Competition (Primary Section) was successfully held at our school on the morning of 14 December 2024.

  Congratulations to our graduates, Venus Tam and Rachel So, who are currently first-year students studying BSc in Environmental Management and Technology at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. They have been awarded a scholarship of HK$5,000 each under the first Hydribio Scholarship 2024 in Kowloon City District.

S1 Annual Drama Performance 2024
Our S6 students gathered on stage today to express their heartfelt gratitude at Pooi To. They reflected on the incredible journey of the past six years, filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.  

Our S5 Geography students conducted field studies on river landforms at Bride's Pool and rural land use at Luk Keng. Students climbed over rocks in the upper course of the river to reach the waterfall, admiring its beauty while enjoying the excitement of field investigation.

  Our annual S1 drama performance was held on this day. For 3 months, all our S1 girls worked hard to acquire the drama skills they needed for this very day. During the performance, every one of our S1 girls delivered the lines, acted confidently, and moved naturally on stage.

Pop Band Show at Lunchtime
The Careers Guidance Team and Student Development Team were honored to invite representatives from the Youth I.D.E.A.S. of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups to conduct a seminar on "Promoting Youth Participation in National Development".  

This year, our four S.3 classes participated in the Cantonese 76th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival in Cantonese Prose Reading.

  The band show took place this lunchtime to celebrate Christmas! Our students rocked the stage with uplifting performances, seamlessly blending hymns and modern hits. Experience their passion for music and witness the joy of the season come alive through their powerful voices and vibrant energy!

Chinese Culture and School History Quiz Competition
The S1 Admission Talk was successfully held, attracting over 1,200 parents and students. They focused on learning about the history and development of Pooi To, as well as the application procedure. Following the talk, attendees enjoyed a campus tour and engaging booth games.  

On this day, we attended the Constitution and Basic Law Student Ambassadors Training Scheme 2024 Award Ceremony, where our school received "The Most Active Participation Award" in the "Sustaining Olympic Spirit Illustration Design Competition".

  The Student Academic Development Committee and Chinese History Department organized a Chinese Culture and School History Quiz Competition on December 6. The event aimed to enhance students' understanding of the school's history and Chinese cultural origins and development, promoting Chinese cultural heritage.

House Inauguration and Celebration Ceremony
The S4 Music Program provides students with the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments, including hand chimes, strings, percussion, ukulele, and Chinese drums, as well as receive vocal training. Today, they showcased their musical talents in a delightful afternoon concert.  

Through the inter-class hymn singing competition, students built team spirit while worshipping God. Students shared Bible verses during their performances, expressing their gratitude to our Heavenly Father.

  The House Inauguration and Celebration Ceremony is a special event recognizing newly appointed committee members for their dedication to the upcoming academic year. Principal Ms. Cheung delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students to embody their house names and mottoes, pursue excellence, and unlock their potential.

Dr. Leung Bing-wah's Lecture on Kowloon Walled City and Sino-British Diplomacy
An informative talk was held for S3 parents and students to explore elective subject choices for senior secondary studies. The session offered valuable insights into aligning academic interests with future career aspirations, empowering families to make informed decisions regarding the subject selection process in the second term.   Congratulations to the Pooi To Alumni Association in Ontario (Toronto) on their 20th Anniversary! Alumni members Ms. Nancy Chan (Class of 1974, Cing House) and Ms. Mui (Class of 1968, Jap House) presented a donation of 2,500 Canadian dollars to support the school's development.   Our school was delighted to invite Dr. Leung Ping-wah, a distinguished scholar of Kowloon Walled City history, to deliver a specialized lecture on "Walled City and Sino-British Diplomacy" on 22 November 2024. Dr. Leung, known for his rigorous historical approach, provided an engaging presentation.

Our Form 2D students demonstrated exceptional performance by winning 1st place in the English Choral Speaking (Girls) category at the 76th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival.   The Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Leadership & Character Enhancement Programme organised by Hong Kong Baptist University was successfully held. Our three prefects in F.5 - Linge Luo, Marjorie Lai, and Karis Lai demonstrated remarkable growth in their leadership capabilities through event planning and execution.   Despite the rain on the first day, our S6 students actively participated in various team-building activities at their graduation camp. The second day was blessed with fine weather, allowing students to fully engage in all planned activities.

The Geography Department and Life Planning Team collaborated with Urban Studies students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to conduct a "Kowloon City Place-making Workshop" for our senior form Geography students.   Ms Kathy Wu (1964 Kei House) and her husband visited their alma mater during their trip from the United States to Hong Kong. Ms Wu's connection to the school runs especially deep as both her mother and aunt were former teachers at Pooi To.   Nearly 130 parents participated in Parent's Night. The event provided valuable insights into students' growth over the past months, as well as guidance on how to support their daughters in learning, cultivate effective reading habits, and offer emotional support.

Second Staff Development Day
S2 Geography Field Trip was successfully held in the New Territories, specifically in the northwest region. During this trip, they observed the distribution of factories in Tuen Mun.   Congratulations to Angel Choi from S4 for being selected as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Students in the Junior Section at the 16th Kowloon Region Outstanding Students Selection. Angel received the Kowloon City Outstanding Student Award for the Junior Section for the 2023/24 academic year.   At our second Staff Development Day, we were honoured to have Ms. Maria Tam Wai-chu, GBM, JP, former Deputy Director of the HKSAR Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, who provided insights on safeguarding national security while protecting fundamental human rights.

Party Secretary Kong Yunlong from Shaoguan University, along with representatives from Shaoguan University and the South China Education History Research Institute, visited Hong Kong for an exchange with both Pooi To and Pui Ching Middle Schools.   A heartfelt congratulations to the entire swimming team! Winning in A, B, and C Grades, along with the Overall Championship in the Inter-school Swimming Competition 2024-25 (Division 3), is an incredible achievement.   The kickoff ceremony for the "Youth Professional Mentorship Programme" 2024 was successfully held. Our students met with their assigned mentors, engaging in communication and exchange.

First Prize in EDB Positive Values competition
The annual Student Leaders' Inauguration Ceremony was held on this day. During the event, leaders from different teams showcased their leadership skills and highlighted their respective teams' missions, while student representatives from various extra-curricular activities groups stood up and vowed to serve their fellow schoolmates.   S1 students three-day, two-night training camp at Bradbury Camp Site. The camp began with ice-breaking activities designed to foster teamwork and build companionship among the students.   We are delighted to announce that Alka Chow, Amber Mak, Chloe Tse, and Emily Wai of S4 won the First Prize in the Secondary Division of the 'Promoting Positive Values and Attitudes through English Sayings of Wisdom' competition.

The 35th Swimming Gala
The 31st PTA Inauguration Ceremony and Annual General Meeting & Gathering was successfully held. This annual event provided a platform for parents and teachers to communicate regarding the learning performance and well-being of our children.   S6 Geography students went to the High Island Reservoir East Dam at the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark in Sai Kung to see the hexagonal columnar tuff and the surrounding coastal erosion landforms.   The annual swimming gala was successfully held on 30th Sept in the Kwun Tong Swimming Pool. Swimmers of all levels showcased their talents, competing in various events, from freestyle to relay races. The atmosphere was electric, filled with cheers from enthusiastic supporters.

We were honoured to invite Ms. Elsie Leung Oi-sie, GBM, JP, the first Secretary for Justice of the HKSAR and former Vice-Chairperson of the Committee for the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to give an in-depth talk on the importance of "One Country, Two Systems", the Constitution, and the Basic Law to our S4 and S5 students.   Pooi To Kiln – Eternal Tableware is an activity under the Arts-in-School Partnership Scheme organised by Hong Kong Arts Development Council. In this activity, the principal, students, parents, alumnae, and artists shared their ceramic artworks.   The S4 Growth Camp was successfully held. Students enjoyed the team-building activities and deeper bonds were fostered among them. We express our heartfelt gratitude to God for our safe return and for blessing us with this unforgettable journey, despite the severe weather conditions.

PTMS Mid-Autumn Festival Bazaar
A group of our S5 students studying Biology received a Merit award in the Exploration of Biodiversity in Hong Kong Short Video Competition (Secondary School), organised by the Education Bureau.   As the Mid-Autumn Festival approached, all Secondary 2 and 4 classes organised a snowy mooncake making activity to celebrate the occasion! Students learned to make simple yet exquisite snowy mooncakes, which they could enjoy themselves or present as gifts to the principal and teachers.   Today, our Alumni Association collaborated with the school, Parent-Teacher Association, and Pooi To Primary School Alumni Association to organise the "Mid-Autumn Festival Bazaar". The different booths featured original handmade crafts centred around the Mid-Autumn Festival theme.

Ceramic Tableware Production and Culinary Culture Exchange workshop
Our school held its annual opening ceremony today, marking the beginning of an exciting new academic year. Students and teachers gathered in the hall to celebrate the occasion.   Congratulations to Tina Chan of S4 and Jamie Lau of S5 for winning the Silver Medal and the Bronze Medal respectively in the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme 2023/24.   The Visual Arts Department participated in the 'School and Arts Group Partnership Program' funded by the Home Affairs Bureau this academic year. We chose the theme 'Ceramic Tableware Production and Culinary Culture Exchange'.
